After a little flight swap a month or so ago from originally having flights via the Middle East, we are now flying with Korean Air to Tokyo via Seoul. This also means we are direct on the way home, even better!
The first culture shock on the plane is that English is certainly not the first language, and we already feel abroad in Heathrow!
The icing on the cake was when the steward asked if I wanted the chicken meal, which I assumed the main option, of course, yes. Chicken mash and veg. Everyone else had something Korean in a bowl!
A couple of hours to transition in Seoul, though it feels more like a classy shopping centre, lots of greenery. It even had a karate show!

A short bumpy flight to Tokyo. They said it was turbulence, though I think it was just Mark laughing to Naked Gun.
A classy transfer in to town with very comfy seats, however somewhat surprised they allow full on TV screens in the front!

A quick freshen and we are out to find “the” crossing……
Shibuya crossing is the world’s busiest pedestrian crossing, with as many as 3,000 people crossing during a single green light cycle. Every top ten of what to see in Tokyo lists it top! It is just round the corner from our hotel.
Ah dear, didn’t quite make it. It looks like our local might be our favourite……. oops!

Finally made it to the crossing, and well, on the underwhelming scale, its possibly up there with Copenhagen’s little mermaid! I thought it was busy?

A little stroll round the area to include a visit to the discount chain store Don Quijote, a mix of TKMaxx and Primark with a little added Japanese strangeness. I mean where else would you sell knives and sex toys, but right next to some kids toys?? Or of course, you may want many choices of mini cameras, or perhaps some Miffy or Hello Kitty merch?
I think that “how strange” comment may be a little theme of the trip?
The great adventure has started! Have a fab time.xx
