The old capital city of Japan before Tokyo. We are moored in nearby Osaka for two days.
Time to check out the shinkansen. First a tube to the right station. Choo-oo!

It seems in Osaka you stand on the right on the escalator whereas you stand on the left in Tokyo!
No problem trying to find where you buy tickets! Not so easy to buy the right ticket though.

A wizz of a journey making it up to 177mph.

Kinkaku-ji, the golden temple. Stunning!

Oh dear, not sure this is my one?!

Ginkaku-ji, a Buddhist temple with an amazing zen garden.

A yuzu ice cream with real gold flakes!

A stroll down the beautiful Philopher’s Path and a number of other quaint streets.
A geisha museum and traditional dance. Very interesting. A shoeless zone, so, to stroll round the zen garden you need their slip on clogs.

Yasaka Shrine, another impressive shrine, with a little street food – grilled crab.

A stumble on a tiny bar called Ayuya. They were so friendly and chatty considering their English was not great. I don’t think they ever see tourists. They were wowed by us being from England and bowled over when we told them of the cruise! They absolutely loved my Little Kitty bag hang!

When the owner grabbed a beer and a customer poured it, then the owner reciprocated, we remembered you dont pour your own drink in Japan!
More quaint streets.

Fushimi Inari Taisha to finish the day of shrines. An absolutely amazing route of hundred of tori gates.
